The following message was emailed to NAGC Members on Wednesday 11 February, 2026:  

Our regular meetings with State Government officials continue and they advise that following the confirmation of the new North Adelaide Public Golf Course design on 18 December 2025, the State Government and current course operators, the City of Adelaide, have commenced planning to accommodate construction works. 

Due to commence in the second quarter of 2026, a level of site closure is required to allow completion in time to host the first LIV Golf Adelaide Tournament at North Adelaide in 2028.

The State Government has acknowledged that there are many users and club members who are interested in understanding what impacts the construction works will have, and what play will be possible during the construction period. 

We can confirm that as planning progresses, every opportunity to maintain some area for continued golf play is being explored.

The existing Par 3 Golf Course is expected to remain open, and investigations are underway with Council to upgrade the portion of the North Course that will remain open under an interim operating model.

Council advised today that parts of the North Course will close for six weeks of intensive work on the North, to return the old holes six and seven to play.

The club anticipates that whilst the South Course will be closed from the commencement of construction, competition play will thus be enabled with innovative options.

Our club has provided examples of options used at courses in Australia and globally.

We are also continuing to provide input to the State Government and Council on transition details, access, times, etc and these will be shared as they are resolved. 

I'll be addressing players at the course on Thursday and Saturday, as we enter the next stage of what will be an amazing transition of the current course.

The inconveniences and disruption of the short term are a necessary part of building a wonderful golfing future for coming generations. 

Our club captains will release details shortly of an abridged club championship.
