Pace of play

The Match Committee is reminding all members of the recommendations on Pace of Play.

After the first tee, it is all players’ responsibility to do their best to keep up with the group in front of them. The lowest handicapper in the group should assume control to direct and maintain that connection if need be.

Consider the following if you are falling behind during your round:

  • Lost Ball - You are allowed 3 minutes to search for your ball. If not found in that time, there two options:
    1. If in doubt from the tee shot, play a provisional ball, for a one-stroke penalty (R18.2). Do so after your playing partners have hit off.
    2. Exercise the Local Rule E5 and drop (within two club lengths) onto the fairway adjacent to the point where the ball was last seen, taking a two-stroke penalty.
  • Pick up your ball when you can no longer score on a hole. If you reach 10 shots on a hole in a Stroke Round, pick up and record 10 on your scorecard as per R21.2.
  • Move quickly between greens and tees. Also mark scorecards between tee shots.
  • If your group is falling behind, the first 2 players to putt out should progress to the next tee and tee off, when safe to do so.
  • All Par 3s should be treated as call-up holes if there is a group waiting on the tee block. This should be adopted by all members.

By keeping up with the group in front, you make the game more enjoyable for everyone especially those behind you.

If you have a challenge on the course with members of the public, you can politely discuss with the players in question. However, the preferred approach (by the course managers) is to call Pro-Shop staff to attend to the issue. This will allow for some recording of the issue and timing for resolution by all parties.
