NAGC storms Mildura Vets Tour

North Adelaide players have thoroughly dominated the 4-day Mildura Tour held by the Veteran Golfers’ Association Adelaide Metro Division, this past week 4-8 May.

RESULTS HERE

A field of 76 players tackled Mildura, Red Cliffs, Coomealla and Riverside in a combined stableford tournament, with a rest break on the 3rd day.

Dave Carr took the overall Men’s trophy with a total of 138 points. However North Adelaide clubmates, Greg Forrest, Peter Adams and David Carmichael finished 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.

Threetip Wongsala placed 4th overall in the Women’s division.

Of the individual highlights, Dave Holmes won on day 2 at Red Cliffs shading Dave Carr on a countback, while Carr won on day 3 at Coomealla on his way to the overall trophy.

A little further back in the field, Peter Adams had a 66th birthday only a golfer could have!

On the day of his birthday, Thursday 7 May, he took an NTP at Coomealla. The next day at Riverside, he went one better with a hole-in-one: a 3-hybrid over 170 metres at the 12th hole to a pin cut centre left; his first in competition over 40 years of golf. (The two in practise rounds didn’t count.)

Congratulations to NAGC’s Murray O’Neill and Carla Hirst for staging a great event.

And here’s to Threetip Wongsala, Ted Wilson, Mick McKiernan, Dave Holmes, Greg Forrest, David Carmichael, Dave Carr and Peter Adams who formed the rest of the North Adelaide contingent.
