Barry Smith aces the fourth!
After five club championships, seven years as club captain, innumerable pennants appearances and life membership, Barry Smith accomplished the last challenge left to him in a storied golfing career, by scoring a hole-in-one on Wednesday 3 June.
In a rare break in the wet weather, Barry let loose with a seven iron at the 137-metre par 3 fourth hole, sending the ball soaring uphill with a magnificent baby draw.
The ball disappeared from view as it landed softly on the green, until a few minutes later when Barry arrived to retrieve it from the hole and claim his first ace in over half a century of competition golf.
Barry’s is the third hole-in-one at the course in less than a week, and the second at that same hole.
Congratulations to Barry, on a feat that was a long time coming but thoroughly deserved for that very reason.
