Golf Premier League 2018

GPL FINAL PLAYED ON 29th SEPTEMBER 2018

Well, that’s a wrap, the final of the GPL has been played and the team who have dominated for the whole season, won. A huge congratulations to the DRAGONS, not only did they win the final, they were the only team not to suffer a loss, a massive feat.

The Peacocks just didn’t have the points to defeat their opponents on the day, but should be proud of their efforts to make the final. I’m sure they will be trying to go the distance in 2019.

I would like to thank you all for participating and getting the NAGC Golf Premier League off to a great start, hopefully it can continue for many years to come, there is plenty of room on the perpetual trophy.

Next year’s fees will be due before the 1st round in January, I will put details out once this season is finished.

The presentation to the winning team & Player of the Year is taking place in the Clubrooms on Sat 6th Oct from 4.30-6pm. There will be a sausage sizzle. Please put your name on the sheet in the Clubrooms if you are attending. We would love to see as many of you as possible just to finish off what I think, has been a great inaugural GPL season.

Thanks again,

Deb Decelis

GPL Round 9 – 15th September 2018

So the last round of the GPL season has been played and congratulations must go to the Dragons who not only finished on top of the ladder but also went through undefeated.

The Peacocks sealed 2nd spot with the slimmest of wins over the Pearls. The Dragons & the Peacocks will now play the Grand Final on Saturday 29th September. Good luck to both teams.

The Owls & the Spiders couldn’t find a win for the last game, ending with a draw.

Unfortunately for the Sharks, the Dragons were far too good. I had predicted a Dragons v Sharks Grand Final, but the Peacock’s 1 point win & the Sharks defeat put an end to that prediction.

Good to see the Rockets finish strongly with a win over the Warriors.

The Pearls really did struggle to field a full team from early on in the season & this may have been detrimental to their scoring ability, I look forward to bigger & better things from the ladies in 2019.

Round 9 saw the Stars claim their 2nd win of the season over the Bears. The Bears also had their struggles with fielding a full team throughout the season.

A couple of teams will need to recruit for next year.

There will be no changes to the format, team names & colours for 2019.

In the coming weeks, you will receive an email regarding your intentions for 2019. This will then help me fill vacancies before the first match on 12th January, 2019.

The Player of the Year is still being hotly contested & not only from those teams in Premiership contention, which is great.

I would like to thank you all for participating and getting the NAGC Golf Premier League off to a great start, hopefully it can continue for many years to come, there is plenty of room on the perpetual trophy.

There may be an opportunity for a match against GPL teams at Sandy Creek, I’m still investigating, so stay tuned.

Next year’s fees will be due before the 1st round in January, I will put details out once this season is finished.

GPL Round 8 – 8th September 2018

With only 1 round to go before the Grand Final, I am predicting that there could be a couple of upsets in Round 9, making it difficult to predict the Grand Finalists.

The Dragons continued their domination and maintain top spot with a comprehensive win over the depleted Pearls team. The ladies will need to do some recruiting for the 2019 season.

Another comprehensive win came for the Peacocks over the Bears, seeing them make another move up the ladder to 3rd spot on percentage.

The Sharks continue to circle, they have maintained their 2nd place on the ladder. As much as it pains me to say, the Sharks were way too good for the Owls & had the scores to have an easy win.

The Warriors had a great win over the Spiders & now find themselves sitting 4th on the ladder with the same points as the Peacocks & the Owls.

There was a close match last weekend, the Rockets managed a 3 point win over the Stars. The GPL predictor was a bit off as the predicted score was not that close.

Well done to the winners from last weekend.

The Grand Final will be played on 29th September & involve the top 2 teams, percentage could play a part in determining who makes the final. We apologise for the change of dates but Mother Nature made the original Round 8 impossible to complete due to water on the greens & the occasional hail storm.

This couldn’t have happened without your support, so I would like to thank everyone for getting on board in 2018.

Please give some thought to what you plan to do in 2019. I will be asking all participants their intentions shortly so that the 2019 season can commence on 12th January.

GPL Round 7 – 28th July 2018

It’s so exciting to see such a close competition & with only 2 rounds to go before the Grand Final, there are no definite contenders for the top 2 positions, although I must say the Dragons are making it difficult for anyone to knock them out of first spot.

So the Dragons continued their domination and maintain top spot with a 9 point with over the Bears.

The Peacocks found their way back to the winners circle with an unpredicted win over the Rockets and a move back up the ladder to 4th spot on percentage.

Talk about an upset…………that’s what the Stars delivered the Spiders, on paper there was no win in the wind for the Stars but they whipped the Spiders by 10 points with a great score of 143.

The Sharks are circling, they have moved to 2nd on the ladder by percentage after having a win over the Pearls.

What can I say about the Owls, other than, a great win over the Warriors, who were predicted to take the win, glad to prove the predictor wrong. Unfortunately, the Owls were pipped out of taking 2nd spot by 0.25 by their next opponents, the Sharks.

The focus will be on the result of the Owls & the Sharks in Round 8 as 2nd place will be determined. The Owls have their sights on that spot & will need to be in top form to defeat the Sharks.

There will be interest in the other results too as there is bound to be some more movement as teams move up & down the ladder over the last 2 rounds.

The Grand Final will be played on 15th September & involve the top 2 teams, percentage could play a part in determining who makes the final.

Stay tuned for information regarding the plans for the GPL premiers & Player of the Year celebration.

GPL Roundup Round 6 – 21st July

Apologies a couple of rounds were missed, sometimes golf has to take a back seat!!!

Well this round saw a couple of close & maybe unexpected results.

The Premiership leaders had a very close match with their opponents. Well done to the Dragons on maintaining their No.1 spot on the ladder, great effort from the Rockets to get so close.

I think the upset of this round would have to be the Spiders inflicting their venom on the unsuspecting Peacocks. This result saw the Peacocks slip to 5th on the ladder.

I was told the Sharks were going to feast on the Bears and that is certainly what happened with the Sharks having a comprehensive win over their opponents.

The Warriors had a good over the Stars & it sees them sitting in 2nd position on the ladder.

The Owls were able to grab a win due to a depleted Pearls team and move a couple spots up the ladder with them now sitting in 3rd place only by percentage.

We couldn’t have asked for a more competitive & interesting season with 2.32% separating 1 & 6 with the Dragons holding 1st position on their own. There are 3 teams on 4 wins & 2 teams on 3 wins. All leads to a very interesting remainder of the GPL year.

Round 7 has some significant matches & the results of those matches will have an impact on where teams will be on the Premiership table.

Stay tuned for information regarding the plans for the GPL premiers & Player of the Year celebration.

Next round – Sat 28th June

GPL Roundup - Week 2

Was great to see lots of colour again out on the course with players in their GPL shirts.

As in Week 1, there were some close matches but nothing higher that a 10 point winning margin, which was The Sharks over the The Stars. The Sharks earn the bragging rights for this round.

The Premiership Table has a new team sitting in the number 1 position, well done to The Bears.

Interestingly only 2 teams have won both matches that have been played.

Impressive individual scores featured again this round, although not all top individual scores meant the team had a win.

The Owls had a close match against The Rockets managing to hold on by 2 points. (I know someone actually did a happy dance when they saw the score).

The Dragons held on to win with a 3 point win over The Peacocks & maintain a top two position on the Premiership ladder.

The Spiders weren’t able to spin a web around The Bears, going down by 5 points.

As mentioned earlier, The Sharks were too ferocious for The Stars posting a 10 point win.

The Warriors were too strong for The Pearls coming in with a 4 point winning margin.

Well done to the winning teams, let’s see what the next round holds for all teams.

Feel free to send me anything you would like to share with everybody so that it can be included in the Round Up for the round just played going forward, either in person after the round, a text message (0421 022 121) or an email (decelis2@msn.com). I’m sure there would have been some stories/tales/details/gossip that happened on Saturday.

No stories of disqualifications for this round, thank heavens!!! In fact no stories, tales or anything have filtered through for Round 2, we must all be behaving & just enjoying the added interested in the competition the GPL brings to our Club.

The remaining dates will be added to the North Adelaide GPL page shortly, so please don’t go by the dates showing at the moment.

Week 3 matches to be played on March 17th

Owls                     v              Peacocks

Rockets                v              Bears

Dragons               v              Stars

Spiders                 v              Pearls

Sharks                  v              Warriors

GPL Roundup - Week 1

Saturday 13th January saw the Golf Premier League kick off at North Adelaide and it was hotly contested.

The visual effect around the course was great to see, with the different colours of the 10 teams being displayed, although some of us had to cover up when the weather changed.

There were some close matches, with The Pearls being able to pull off a 1 point win over the Stars.

Some comments made on social media suggested The Dragons would run out of puff, unfortunately for The Owls, this wasn’t the case.

Bragging rights this round go to The Peacocks who had a comprehensive 22 point win over The Sharks.

The Rockets sit equal top on the Premiership Ladder after a solid performance against the Spiders. The Peacocks are ahead only by percentage.

The Bears & The Warriors had a pretty even tussle too.

Impressive individual scores came in and it was great to see it was a mix of both male & female players that contributed to the high scores of the round. Well done to those individuals.

Feel free to send me anything you would like to share with everybody so that it can be included in the Round Up for the round just played going forward, either in person after the round, a text message (0421 022 121) or an email (decelis2@msn.com). I’m sure there would have been some stories/tales/details/gossip that happened on Saturday but I really wanted to get this out to you all, so please, as I said, I’m happy to receive the details of what happened in the other rounds going forward.

As a result of the first round, I would like to offer a piece of advice, DON’T FORGET TO SIGN YOUR CARD!!!!!
